Collared Dove

Collared Doves are a widespread and resident species, although probably decreasing in number in line with the current national trend. They still occurred in the top twenty of our most widespread breeding birds in the 1995-96 "Survey of Parks Gardens and Open Spaces" [Sheffield]. They are most common in the eastern [lowland] half of the area including suburban Sheffield. The lower photograph was taken by Russell Slack in his High Green garden on 28th February 2002.
