Grey Partridge

Photograph Copyright © 2000 Carl Corbidge

Our native partridge, perdix perdix, the Grey Partridge is still in decline both nationally and locally. Reason: the oft-quoted "current farming practices and changes in land usage". In the Sheffield area it is best seen in low lying areas to the east, but small numbers can be seen on the upland fringes to the west of the city, such as Fulwood Head and Midhopestones. Indeed, this photograph was taken by Carl Corbidge at Rod Moor in spring 2000.  Last updated 15th October 2000.
