Indoor meetings
Wednesday 13th January 2010 - 7.15 pm - Sheffield University Arts Tower, Lecture Theatre 5 Phil Palmer will be talking to us about Namibia.
Phil is well known for his photographs and articled that have appeared in many birding magazines. He is a bird-tour leader and is very well travelled and his informative and humorous talks accompanied by his high quality photographs are very popular.

He is a past council member for the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust and was Chairman of their reserves committee. He is author of 'First for Britain and Ireland' which he talked to us about in 2003.
He last gave a very informative talk to the group about 'The Secret Life of the Nightjar' in January 2007. This time he will entertain us on his travels to the southern African country of Namibia.
****************************************************************** Wednesday 10th February 2010 - 7.15 pm - Sheffield University Arts Tower, Lecture Theatre 5 Martin Garner - 'Frontiers of Birding'.
Martin is a well known author of ornithological writing, including articles for British Birds and Birding World, as well as being a member of the British Birds Rarities Committee. He is credited with discovering Britain?s first Caspian Gull, and has published a paper on the identification of Yellow-legged Gulls.
His first bird-related book, 'Frontiers of Birding', was published in 2008, and chronicles the efforts of Martin and friends to push the boundaries of birdwatching in areas such as sound recording, finding rarities, and cutting edge identification of tricky species and races. This promises to be a fascinating lecture.
