Carr Vale NR: Hobby - 1 - mobbed by hirundines ; Peregrine - 1 - flew from east and attacked a woodpigeon ; Common Tern - 3 - 2 adults with juv flew from north at 17:45 ; Little Ringed Plover - 1 ; Green Sandpiper - 117 July 2010

Carr Vale Nature Reserve: Greenshank - 2 - left east at 0550 hours. Also two Redshank, Snipe, Green Sandpiper and Grasshopper Warbler reeling.27 June 2010

Carr Vale Nature Reserve: Pink-footed Goose - 95 - At Carr Vale this morning 95 Pink-footed Geese flew north-west, nine Buzzards could be seen from the mound as was an immature Peregrine. Wildfowl included 205 Wigeon and two Shoveler whilst amongst the waders the first Ringed Plover of the year was seen along with the pair of Oystercatchers and a Redshank.23 February 2010
Carr Vale Nature Reserve: Whooper Swan - 4 - Four adults flew north at 0800. Also three female Goosanders today/ A Hawfinch on 21st was an exceptional record being the first since 1997.26 January 2010

Carr Vale Nature Reserve: Pink-footed Goose - 90 - Still present this morning until the local shoot appeared and now they have gone----, still an 8 day stay is very good. At CV today 155 Wigeon, 40 Teal, 35 Stock Doves and 16 Lesser Redpoll.14 January 2010

Carr Vale Nature Reserve: Pink-footed Goose - 190 - 90 Pink-feet arrived at 1050 and landed in fields sw of the reserve. They were still present at 1220. Another c100 flew east at 1110. 140 Wigeon still present with a few Teal and Gadwall, a Water Rail was heard calling and 65 Pied Wagtails flew north to roost06 January 2010
Carr Vale Nature Reserve: BITTERN - 1 - still present, walked across ice at 1055 and then in constant view from 1505-1620 hours.05 January 2010
Carr Vale Nature Reserve: BITTERN - 1 - Bird showed very well sat on ice for ten minutes, last seen flying south but may have landed in dyke by Meadow Flash. Female Goosander too today, new for the year.02 January 2010
Carr Vale Nature Reserve: BITTERN - 1 - Showed at 1018 and again later pm. Also at CV on 2nd there was 155 Wigeon, 42 Gadwall, a Peregrine, a Water Rail, 400 Golden Plover, 160+ Lapwings, 41 Stock Doves, 27 Skylarks and the Chiffchaff. Carr Vale Nature Reserve: BITTERN - 1 - Started the year off in style with Bittern (7th record) in front of the mound on the ice. Also male Hen Harrier south then east at 1200 (6th record, annual 1997-2000 but only other record was 21st May 2007 so a rarer bird than Bittern), 120 Pink-feet east and 50 west, 160 Wigeon (highest count of the winter), 49 Gadwall and a Chiffchaff on the embankment.08 November 2009

Carr Vale Nature Reserve: Scaup - 2 - 2 juveniles present this afternoon and looked settled despite quite a lot of disturbance from DWT work party and dog walkers. First record for the reserve.
