Turnstone is an annual passage migrant in the Sheffield area but only in small numbers. The best months are May and August, although there have been a handful of December records. They have only occurred at a small number of suitable localities; RVCP, Middleton Moor and Redmires probably being the most favoured. They occur mostly in ones or twos, occasionally up to 5 or 6, with the largest parties being: 12 through Middleton Moor on 30th December 1979 and 9 at Redmires on 30th August 1989. This adult [probably female] was photographed by Mark Reeder at RVCP on 11th May 2001. Last updated 17th May 2001.
