A Lesser Whitethroat this morning.

Thursday 11th April 2002
At least 4, Common (Mealy) Redpolls amongst a flock of 40 [mostly] Lesser Redpolls early this morning. This was by far the largest count of the 'winter' here. Also present: 7 Blackcaps, 2 Willow Warblers, 5 Chiffchaffs, and 3 Nuthatches.

Canada Goose 8; Coot 1 [observers first here]; Redwing 1; Willow Warbler 1; Chiffchaff 5; Blackcap 4; Great Spotted Woodpecker 1; Green Woodpecker 1.

Tuesday 12th February 2002
A male Lesser Spotted Woodpecker this morning, showing well for 15 minutes at approximately SK346981 (near two burnt out cars), also 2 Nuthatches.

18th January 2002
A single Goldcrest was the first since November and an unidentified Redpoll species flew over.

6th January 2002
No sign of the Mealy Redpoll this morning, but very few other finches either.

5th January 2002
The Common [Mealy] Redpoll still present, but elusive and flighty and difficult to pin down; also 2 Lesser Redpolls and small party of Siskins, plus Green Woodpecker; and 37 Mallard over was a site record!!.

4th January 2002
A Common [Mealy] Redpoll with 2 Lesser Redpoll, Siskin and Goldfinches from 0845-1000h this morning when the flock flew off, and not relocated. Also a Reed Bunting, 15 Bullfinches and at least 4 Nuthatches.

Nuthatch 1, Great Spotted Woodpecker 1, Bullfinch 15, Long-tailed Tits 65, Willow Tits 3, Treecreeper 1, Goldcrest 1.

22nd October 2001
Great Crested Grebe 2, Canada Geese 2, Siskin 22, Brambling 3, Redpoll sp [presumably Lesser] 10+, Goldcrests 6, Green Woodpeckers 2. Lots of Jays about too.

2nd May 2001
Black-headed Gulls 11, Blackcap 5+, Common Whitethroat 2, Lesser Whitethroat 1.

26th April 2001
Green Woodpecker showing well again, Swallow 2, House Martin 1.

25th April 2001
Tree Pipits 2.

24th April 2001
A pair of Great Crested Grebes on one of the small fishing ponds was unusual, at least 10 Willow Warblers, 5+ Blackcaps, 2 Nuthatch, 1 Tree Pipit and an obliging Green Woodpecker also present, but still no hirundines here.

12th April 2001
At least 5 Willow Warblers (the first here), 7+ Chiffchaff, a Willow Tit, 6 Great Spotted Woodpeckers (including one in a nest hole) and 4 Blackcaps.

7th April 2001
A walk around the CP revealed 9 Chiffchaffs and a single Blackcap but surprisingly no Willow Warblers.

29th March 2001
A steady passage of Meadow Pipits this morning, plus 2 Chiffchaffs, a male Siskin, 2 Green Woodpeckers, and 6 Goldcrests (max for the 'winter').

14th March 2001
Signs of spring migration with the first Chiffchaff of the year [here] and 15+ Meadow Pipits moving over.

1st March 2001
A Green Woodpecker and a Brambling.

14th February 2001
A skein of 60 Pink-footed Geese low NW over. Also; 60 Great Tits, 60 Long-tailed Tits, 4 Nuthatch, single Green Woodpecker, a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, several Great Spotted Woodpeckers, 5 Goldcrests, 2 Meadow Pipits and 2 Reed Buntings.
