Clough Lane, Porter Clough: Buzzard - 2 - in the air together ; Nuthatch - 2 ; Goldcrest - 1 - singing and then showing well ; Grey Heron - 1 ; Grey Wagtail - 2 ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 1

Ecclesfield: Ring-necked Parakeet - 8 - Cross Hill garden, calling, landed in large conifer, on way to roost?

Firsby Res: Grey Heron - 1 ; Grey Wagtail - 1 - after a few weeks absence. ; Pied Wagtail - 1 - Over calling. ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 22 - Up on the air circling due to tractor working in nearby field. ; Gadwall - 8 - Now 4 pairs present. ; Buzzard - 3 - In the air together performing acrobatics. ; Hobby - 1 - Adult hunting over Horse paddock and main Res for 30 mins catching and eating prey on the wing. Mainly Dragonflies. ; Cetti's Warbler - 1 - Calling from small Res.

Fulwood garden: Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - perched at top of tree in neighbouring garden for several minutes

Porter Brook, Sharrow: BITTERN - 1 - behind Aviva ; BITTERN - 1 ; BITTERN - 1 - initially walking upstream in the river at Stalker Walk, then went walkabout into Sharrow Cemetery, stalking through the flower meadows by the main path. Bizarre behaviour for a normally hard to see species.

Wortley Park: Raven - 2 ; Red Kite - 3 - 2 towards Wharncliffe Chase and 1 over the park. ; Buzzard - 12+ - Maximum number seen at any one time, many others seen moving through during my visit. ; Linnet - 20+ - Scattered flocks, largest seen. ; Kestrel - 3 ; Reed Bunting - 2+ ; Chiffchaff - 3+ - Viewed and calling.

Ecclesfield: Buzzard - 1 - Circling High St then drifted west.

Firsby Res: Mallard - 1 ; Moorhen - 1 ; Coot - 1 ; Pied Wagtail - 7 - Flushed off farmland and flew over small Res. ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 11 - Mixed aged flock over. ; Black-headed Gull - 25 - Over. ; Buzzard - 1 - Calling. ; Stock Dove - 1 - Down on farmland with WPs. ; Song Thrush - 1 - Along path. ; Goldcrest - 2 - Calling ; Chaffinch - 1 - Male ; Chiffchaff - 3 - Calling. ; Kingfisher - 1 - Calling in the Reed bed.
