Visible Migration Field Meeting

19th October 2025 7:30am

Redmires Reservoirs

For over 30 years, the SBSG has run a local field trip to Redmires Reservoirs to observe visible migration.

Significant movements of thrushes, finches and Woodpigeons can be spectacular at this time of the year and along with other migrant species passing through the area such as geese, swans, waders and raptors.

Why not come and experience this magical spectacle?! Meet at the Plantation Car Park at the north-west corner of the Top Reservoir at 7.30am on Sunday 19th October. We will walk up the track to Ocean View but may do a full circuit of all three reservoirs if the weather is bad. Bring suitable clothing and footwear. Please keep an eye on the website for any changes to our plans.

Directions:

Continue along Redmires Road from Lodge Moor, passing The Sportsman and Three Merry Lads pubs, continuing past Wyming Brook until you reach the Top Reservoir at Redmires. Drive a little further before turning right into the Plantation Car Park. Either meet there or walk up the track beyond the plantation before heading up to the WWI War Memorial on Ocean View.
