If you're reading this then it's more than likely that you aware of the new look SBSG website. However, what you're probably not aware of is some of the new features that are available to members in the sightings archive. Alongside the ability to download all annual reports from 1973, and bulletins from 2007, you can now search our extensive records database from 2011 to the present day. Handy if you're planning a day out and want to know what the best time to visit local hotspots is, or you just want to idle your time away reminiscing about the 'old days'. Options to search by species, site, year and month are available from the sightings menu when members are logged in.
One of the old bugbears of the old site was the poor photo reproduction, which could put off some users from submitting photos, particularly for a record shot birder like me, where a photo was made even worse. The new gallery style photos are a big improvement and include species, location and the photographer’s name. If you’re viewing on a PC the gallery appears to the right of the day’s records, on phone or tablet it's at the bottom.
As the site develops other features will be added, such as video and improved site guides.
