Silverwood Lagoon: Little Grebe - 4+ ; Great Crested Grebe - 2 ; Black-headed Gull - 3 ; Song Thrush - 2 - singing ; Linnet - 20+ ; Long-tailed Tit - 6+ - at least three pairs ; Skylark - 1 - singing over farmland below lagoon. Just about clinging on here ; Water Rail - 2+ - being heard much more frequently than in previous years, suspect breeding at site for first time ; Cetti's Warbler - 1 - usual singing bird ; Reed Bunting - 1 - singing ; Reed Warbler - 5 - singing ; Sedge Warbler - 2 - singing ; Garden Warbler - 3 - at least 3 singing around pit top ; Whitethroat - 8+ ; Swift - 2 ; House Martin - 4 - Woodlaithes end of pit top
Wentworth Park, Cascades: Mute Swan - 2+ - family still with 8 cygnets, spending most of time on females back ; Gadwall - 3 - males ; Mallard - 15+ - including 2 family parties of 6 and 4 recently fledged ; Tufted Duck - 6 - 3 pairs
Wentworth, Trowles Wood: Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - calling ; Wren - 1 - singing ; Robin - 1+ - singing ; Blackbird - 1 - singing ; Woodpigeon - 1+ - singing ; Chiffchaff - 1+ - song and calls ; Chaffinch - 1 - singing
Wharncliffe Heath: Woodcock - 1 - Passed over once and heard a couple times
Wharncliffe Heath NR: Pied Flycatcher - 14 - 8 male, six female ; Redstart - 4 - 2 pairs ; Song Thrush - 4 - adult and at least 3 recently fledged juveniles (proof of breeding). ; Willow Warbler - 20+
